What is the Family Outreach Service?
The Family Outreach Service is funded by the Big Lottery for 5 years to support women and their children affected by domestic abuse to keep safe, move on and break the cycle of abuse. The service aims to address identified unmet need across the Stirling Council area with a particular focus on rural areas, and make support more accessible to those women and their children who might find it difficult to access existing services - by taking the service to them.
It supports women with children under the age of 18 (regardless of whether their children are currently resident with them), who are either resident in the Stirling Council area or seeking to settle here.
This service is inclusive of women with experience of domestic abuse in same sex relationships, and transgender women.
If you are unsure whether or not you would be eligible for this service, or perhaps not sure if what you are experiencing, or have experienced is domestic abuse, please do call and talk to one of our workers, who will help you find the right support.
What kind of support is offered?
The family outreach service can offer support tailored towards women's emotional and practical needs, including safety planning and advocacy. This could include supporting women towards safe, permanent accommodation, or to keep safe in their own homes.
Children and young people can receive support from our children and young people's workers if that would be helpful for them.
How is the Family Outreach Service accessed?
The Family Outreach Service can be accessed directly by women and their children by telephoning our advice line on 01786 469518 and making an enquiry or by way of referral from another agency or even family and friends.
SDWA will require to take some details and then arrangements can be made for an initial meeting at a convenient and safe time and place.
