For young people

While you could be affected by domestic abuse in your parent's relationships, it isn't something that just affects adults.

Domestic abuse can happen in your relationships too - and not just if you're straight, it also happens in gay and bi-sexual relationships.

Domestic abuse isn't just about someone hurting you physically, it can take different forms.

This could be controlling what you wear and who you speak to, checking up on your social media and phone, pressurising you to have sex or take nude pictures, putting you down and making you feel bad about yourself, blaming you when they get angry or upset or making you feel bad about yourself.

It's also a pattern of behaviour that makes you feel afraid of them, or making you feel hurt, intimidated, guilty and like there's no way out.

You don't deserve to feel this way and this is not your fault.

If you are worried that you might be experiencing these things in your relationship, you can contact our children and young person's service who can offer you confidential advice, support and information up until you are 18.

You could also speak with someone who you trust, or contact the numbers below for some help and advice.
